Ab 1822 lehrte er dort Klassische Philologie. 1826 wechselte er die Profession und agierte fortan als Priester. 1840 wurde er zum Archidiakon von Lewes ernannt. Neben seiner beruflichen Existenz betätigte sich Julius Charles Hare als Publizist. Im Jahr 1828 übersetzte er gemeinsam mit C.
