[London, 29 September 1825]
My dear Sir
I sent in May last a remittance of six pounds Sterling by the handy of Mr Lassen to be paid to my son with your sanction, for the purchase of a select set of German Classics which I wished my son to possess & to exercise his judgement in choosing. I did not advert to the probability of Mr Lassen’s halting a considerable time at Paris by the way. I mentioned the subject to Sir Alex[ande]r Jonston [sic] when leaving this: & I will thank you, if you see no objection, to let my son have the money meantime, & take it from Mr Lassen at your convenience, or settle it with him in account.
I remain / Dear Sir / Yours sinc[ere]ly
H Colebrooke
