[1] London, 5 August 1828
My dear Schlegel
The Bearer is
the Son of Mr Ferrier the English Consul at Rotterdam He is attracted to Bonn by your Fame & is I believe desirous of availing Himself of your private Assistances as a Pupil in your House while He attends the Lectures in the University.. From my Regard & Respect for Mr Ferrier I should esteem any kindness that you could show his Son a Favour to myself.
I am happy in any Opportunity of recalling myself to your Memory, & of assuring You that I
retain shall ever retain [2] of the warmest feelings of Attachment & Admiration toYouwards You.
I suffered after a long Time after seeing You from extreme bad health but have for some Months recovered more perfectly than I could have hoped.
I wish I could hear something of your Oriental Studies & Researches
Alas from
