Dr Ure Professor of Chemistry, F. R. S. Member of the Geological & Astronomical Societies of London Consulting Chemist to the British Government, &ct presents his most respectful Compliments to Herr August Wilhelm von Schlegel. Having heard at the British Ambassador’s table where he dined a few days ago, that the justly celebrated and much admired interpreter of Shakspere’s plays, and investigator of his genius, is now in Berlin, the Dr has [2] taken the liberty of soliciting permission to pay his personal homage to a poet, and philosopher who is dear to every Englishman. Dr Ure is here for only a few days to visit his scientific friends, and will be happy to wait upon Mr Schlegel at any hour tomorrow which he may be pleased to indicate – He carries with him, as the best Companion of his journey in Germany, the 9th volume of the German Shakspere – Many of Dr Ure’s works are translated into German, and one of them his Dictionary of Chemistry – [3] by two different translators – Geheimer rath Brandes of Hannover, and Dr Froriep of Weimar –
