[1] Bonn. Star Hotel.
31. August 1844.
Dear Sir.
When your obliging note came here
we were tour-ing in the Rhine Hills, & did not return home till mid-night. – I am sorry that you should think of returning a call of one delighted to be allowed to know you in your own house. We leave Bonn tomorrow morning early. I shall have the pleasure of calling again on you at 11 o’cl this morning; but if you are engaged, or not well, pray deny me. Otherwise my second homage to you will be most agreable to me; & I left you without seeing the papyri oriental MS., – nor will the accidents of life allow me [2] to see enough of You. –
I have an
English Caricature of Lord Brougham, our common friend, I beg you to accept – to add to your portfolio.
I am, Dear Sir,
respectfully Yours
Joseph Parkes
